Reel One x GHD Stand Together for BLM

You may have already about the "incident" that happened on set in Vancouver... but if not, here's the long story short: A film Director told a crew member to remove their "Black Lives Matter" shirt or go home - claiming it was a violation of dress code (and that saying "black lives matter" was akin to hate speech). This sent waves through the region on numerous levels and put a spot light on the film industry that was far from flattering. On a parallel track we were already producing our own "Black Lives Matter" tees to raise awareness against prejudice...

How to Cocktail with 'Born to Shake'

If you're anything like us, then you probably love a good cocktail (or three). So you can imagine how much fun we had hosting Shayne and Nicole from 'Born to Shake' on the second episode of our new podcast ("The Grey Hearts Podcast" - shameless plug). They showed us how to make three separate cocktails, and subsequently showed them how to cheers and crush em quick time! You can find the video segments from each cocktail demo below, or you can check out the full blog video on Youtube (or listen on Spotify or Google Podcasts). Of course we had...

OKGN 'Grey Hearted Local' Toque Drop

We're pumped to have received our delivery of limited edition OKGN 'Grey Hearted Local toques' from our friends at Okanagan Lifestyle. It's a pleasure anytime we get to collaborate with the homies at OKGN, but the 'Grey Hearted Local Toque' is special because it's constructed from an acrylic made partly from the up-cycled denim fibres from our first joint project last year (the OKGN 4 Icon Denim Apron). These knitted toques are also grey, so you know we're even more on board. Available while quantities last in-shop and online; and if we're sold out, you can always check www.okanaganlifestyle.ca for more. Stay warm and grey hearted!...

Duer's Do

Duer's Do

We love supporting local brands and artisans, especially when they truly excel at what they do; so of course we found our way to Vancouver-based label "Duer", and their awesome performance denim. Let's start with a quick rundown of who "Duer" is, and what they do: The concept for Duer was born in January, 2013, when founder Gary Lenett recognized the need for better technical denim jeans while biking to his office - nothing seemed to combine performance and fashionability to the degree he desired. After partnering up with a fabric expert, and opening their own ethically-run facility in Lahore, Pakistan, Duer...

Law Tattoo x GHD Denim Art

Yeah, we may have a biased opinion... but we're pretty sure Pandosy street is home to more dope artisans than any other street (or avenue) in the Okanagan; from interior designers and painters, chefs and winemakers, to barbers and tattoo artists, Pandosy has it all. And we love working with dope artists - especially on one-off pieces of kick-ass denim art! Enter the homie Lars (aka Law Tattoo) - owner of UMI (IG @ultramagnetic_ink) which happens to be kiddie-corner from our shop here on Pandosy. Lars is our dude. We kick it, crush tin, talk shit, ya know, homie shit... but...

OKGN x GHD Aprons

We can honestly say that supporting local and community-building is a way of life here in Kelowna - and the Okanagan in general - something that's become apparent since we opened our doors for business almost a year ago. From neighbouring businesses to local customers, the energy and support we've come to know and love is truly amazing; and no local business/brand exemplifies that progressive energy more so than Okangan Lifestyle. Their four letters and icons have become a staple in the region, representing a lifestyle focused on healthy activity and local appreciation. So as you can imagine, when our homies at...

Carhartt UPcycled & Reworked

With so many of our homies working in either the bar and hospitality industry, and/or artisans of some type, it's no surprise aprons have become a major category in-shop here at Grey Hearts. Not only do we stock premium aprons from our good friends at Search Rescue Denim, but we've also begun custom-making aprons for clients from a range of occupations (more on those collaborations soon). Most recently though, we jumped into our rework bag and upcycled a vintage pair of Carhartt double-front work pants - transforming them into a one-off utility apron.  Featuring a cross-back strap for comfort and...

Kanada Day Kick Back

Kanada Day Kick Back

What a Canada (Kanada) Day it was this year - first one here at the shop, and definitely the start of a new tradition. In light of the current social landscape (read "pandemic"), we kept the gathering modest in size... however, the grill was fired up by 11am, and the first bottles were popped and flowing shortly thereafter. And when I say the grill was fired up, please believe me, because we definitely flexed our license to grill; ribs, sausage links, kabobs, veggie burgers and street corn - we got busy!  Nothing beats a kickback with the homies and famo,...

"Loverboy" - Denim Scratcher x Grey Hearts Denim Jacket Collab

So let me start by telling you alil about our guy "Loverboy"... we crossed paths almost a year ago now, and pretty much hit it off from the jump. A larger fella, alittle rough around the edges and abit of a drifter with plenty of stories to tell - some heartwarming and some heartbreaking... definitely wears his heart on his sleeve, but a certified badass all the same. *** Our homie Baylan (aka the "Denim Scratcher") has been killing us with dope-ass hand-embroidered pieces lately, so we hollered at him to jump on a vintage Lee denim jacket and put his...
